On May 1, 2007, roughly 150,000 immigrants and supporters took to the streets of Chicago to reject anti-immigration legislation, to call for an end to deportations and raids, and to demand a path to citizenship for undocumented workers. The immigrant rights movement chose May 1, International Workers' Day, to raise their demands in Chicago, as well as in dozens of other U.S. cities.
