On March 11, 2016, a rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was scheduled to take place at UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL, a heavily Democratic city. When more protesters than supporters arrived, Trump canceled the event and the crowd inside the stadium erupted in cheers.
These photographs are a collection of iPhone images that I took as a protester outside the stadium that evening. The general feeling amongst myself and the other protesters was that, while vile, Trump wasn't a serious contender for the White House. Protesters came to mock and condemn him, and we thought we had made a powerful message by stopping his rally. Time would prove how ineffective our protest was.
